About this event
Join us in for the afternoon of movement and meditation at Yoga shala, Edinburgh!
About the Event
This workshop is for all queer people who wish to explore connection trough movement and meditation.
Using guided meditation, grounding and other somatic explorations, we aim to nurture the relationship between our physical, emotional selves, as well as community.
This workshop will be led by Jenni and Adriana from Queer Yoga Edinburgh.
Adriana(she/they), is a yoga and meditation teacher.
Jenni (she/they), is a movement psychotherapist and yoga teacher.
(Please note: Although Jenni is a registered therapist, this embodiment workshop is offered as a creative and community space, not clinical psychotherapy.)
We aim to create a space where absolutely everyone feels welcome and supported within a community of LGBTQ+ folks. Group size will be up to 15 people. Open to all mobilities and levels of experience.
Duration
The workshop will run for 2 hours, and we will have the opportunity for sharing, journaling alongside meditation and moving together.
Schedule
15:00-15:20 Introductions and grounding
15:20-16:00 Warm up and movement exploration
16:00-16:10 Short Break

About the Venue
We will be holding the sessions at The Yoga Shala on Trafalgar Street near Leith. There are bus links close to the studio for buses 7, 10, 11, 14, 16, 21. There is some on street parking around the area. Please aim to arrive 10-15 minutes before class starts.
The venue is situated on ground floor. There is a spacious single stall all gender toilet available at the studio, without grabrails. Door width to enter the studio is 34 inches, (86cm.) wide.
When arriving at the building the front door should be open with someone to welcome you and direct you to the space.
What to bring
We are inviting you to bring a pen and notebook for journaling. We suggest you wear comfy clothes you can freely move in (joggers, shorts, T-shirts etc). You are welcome to bring a water bottle if you'd like, plus any other item you'd like to use during the event. There is a small kitchen if you want tea or water refills.
Sensory information
We will have some music playing during the event. The space where we'll be practising has windows so the studio will be naturally lit. There may be sounds of traffic and people passing on the street.
Tickets
We offer tiered ticket options to help make our events as financially accessible as possible. Please pay what you are able - something that isn’t an overstretch for you, but that helps keep our sliding scale sustainable so we can continue offering these workshops.
Here’s a guide to help you choose:
- Low income ticket: Please choose this if you are on a low income or receiving financial support (e.g. universal credit, disability benefits or similar)
- General admission ticket: Please choose this if you can comfortably meet your basic needs (e.g. rent, bills, food) and have some expendable income.
- Pay it forward ticket: Please choose this if you can comfortably meet your needs and would like to help cover the cost for someone who otherwise couldn’t attend.
Your donation supports our community teachers and helps cover venue hire so we can continue offering these inclusive spaces.
Refunds are eligible up to 24 hours before class start time - we will struggle to fill your space with short notice. If you are unable to make a class and are willing to offer your ticket to someone else please feel free to email us or share on our Whatsapp Community.
Any questions at all, please get in touch. Hope to see you there!
