EIGHT-WEEK MINDFULNESS COURSE

Mindfulness meditation involves consciously bringing your awareness to your thoughts and feelings, without making judgments about them. It is a very simple form of meditation where you simply focus on your breath coming in and going out of your body, and bringing your awareness to your experience, moment by moment. You come to realise that thoughts come and go, as do feelings. This realisation can be very helpful and freeing, as it creates space to make more considered decisions about how to respond to various events in your life.

Scientific research has shown that you change structures in your brain after an eight-week course in mindfulness. This is a program for anyone who would like to live more fully in the moment and cultivate their own well-being.

The course is spread over eight weeks to provide enough time to develop your own mindfulness practice. Please note it is best learnt when you are in a relatively good frame of mind! Your practice, both in the sessions and at home, represents the most important part of the learning process.



Benefits from practising mindfulness meditation:

First of all, less stress in whatever situation you are in! A calmer mind and less of the non-stop inner chatter. In addition, you may become more creative and see things in a clearer way. You will find that you have more time on your hands than before, even though you take time off to meditate 10-30 minutes a day. You will get to know yourself better as you will become more aware of your thoughts and emotions. You may start acting in a wiser way, as you will start responding to events around you from a space of inner calmness. You will become kinder towards yourself, have more compassion for others, and thus be happier!

Also, you will get more in tune with your body and your breathing. Many of us walk through life with a head sort of separate from the rest of our body, thinking, thinking, thinking, and not realising there is so much helpful information we can get from simply listening to our body and breath. You will perhaps go back to relying more on your gut feeling (you may already have noticed how often your gut feeling is right).
