Description

Learn how to practice mindfulness in Glasgow with our 8-week programme for adults.

Please note: This course takes place every Tuesday for 8 weeks from 3rd October until 21st November. We will meet at 6.30pm and the course will end at 8.30pm. There will be a "Day Of Mindfulness" either in week 6 or week 7 which will run from 10am - 4pm on a Saturday or Sunday.

Mindfulness is a transformational way of living. So often we skim the surface of life – worrying about the future or regretting the past. Mindfulness offers a way to be in touch with what is happening in the here and now and live life more deeply. It offers the opportunity to live with greater joy, kindness and freedom as well as a way of embracing and transforming difficult emotions.

Our 8-week course is an in-depth introduction to mindfulness. It is designed to empower you to develop a nourishing and resilient personal meditation practice. Over the course of 8 sessions and a one-day retreat, you will learn how to:

  • Live more deeply in the present moment

  • Nourish happiness through being present

  • Embrace and transform difficult emotions

  • Live with greater freedom and flexibility

In joining the course, you’ll receive access to a library of guided meditations to support your ongoing practice as well as a course manual. The course consists of 8 weekly 2-hour sessions as well as a day-retreat in week 6 or week 7. Participants of the course will be expected to :

  • Attend all sessions including the day-retreat

  • Devote approximately 30 minutes a day to the development of a personal mindfulness practice.

  • Engage in the material with openness and perseverance during the whole course.

Is this course right for me?
Our 8-week course requires a significant investment of time and energy as well as willingness to work with and change habitual patterns of living. As such, it is important to consider whether or not now is the right time for you to learn mindfulness. Now may not be the right time if: you don’t currently have the space in your life to engage fully in the material or daily practice; you’re unsure whether you’ll be able to attend all of the sessions; you’ve recently experienced a traumatic life event.

The course is appropriate for participants completely new to mindfulness as well as novices with significant experience. The course begins by introducing the basic practices of breath and body awareness before developing into awareness of feelings and thoughts, meditations to nourish happiness and kindness, as well as practices to cultivate mindful communication.

Previous Course Participants of our 8-Week course have said :

"The course has helped me learn how to take better care of myself from the inside out. It's also given me lots of tools to take away and continue to use and practice which is much more than id expected."

"The ability to hit a pause button. Permission to breathe. Tools to use (when I remember) when I start to feel overwhelmed and stressed. A lightness which hadn't existed for a while ... and a chance for me to do something I wanted to do."

"Greater self-awareness and general awareness. Tools to build on. Better understanding of Mindfulness. Perhaps more importantly greater self awareness."

"More appreciation of nature and more awareness of the everyday tasks we perform without actually thinking about them"

"A sense of perspective, calmness and empathy. The course has enabled a renewed purpose and clarity across all areas of my life."

"Insight into the way the brain can change and hope that I can change. Specifically, a calmer mentality with more appreciation of the now and desire to give to others. It has given me a period of this to reflect on how I had become stuck in methods of coping and to ease the tendency to self destruction"
