8-week online course

About this Event

This course explores ways in which mindfulness can benefit your musical activities. Whether you are a professional musician or play for your own pleasure, the course will support you in cultivating wellbeing, balance and creativity. It will equip you to deal more effectively with stress, anxiety and other challenges.

Mindfulness practice has plenty to offer to musicians. When engaging with it regularly, mindfulness can help you to

  • develop inner clarity, focus and presence,
  • (re)connect with aliveness and creativity,
  • be more at ease in performance situations,
  • prevent instrument-specific strains, support technical development and expression through deepening awareness of the body, and
  • cultivate emotional resilience.

This is a course for musicians who are looking for an introduction to mindfulness practice, or who have practised mindfulness before and wish to take their next steps. In a supportive group of peers, you will learn key principles and a range of practices to help you bring mindfulness into your daily life.

Practices include Sound meditation, Body scan, Breathing meditation, Walking meditation and Mindful movements, among others. Themes to be covered include: Grounding through body and breathing; Being present in life and musical activities; Being with difficult experiences; Acceptance and self-compassion; The art of living mindfully.

Each week you will receive a section of the e-manual and a recorded meditation for your daily practice. You will need a minimum commitment of 15-30 minutes of your time on 6 days per week.

Please join me for a free webinar on Monday, February 22nd, 7-8.15pm: introduction to the course and Q&A.

Dates & time

Mondays 7-9pm, starting March 1st and concluding April 26th (no class on April 5th due to Easter break)

Cost

Three levels of pricing are available: £115 / £135 / £155 (plus booking fee) - please choose a price according to your circumstances. This includes a detailed e-manual, weekly recorded meditations and e-mail support as needed.

I would like this course to be accessible to everyone. For payment options, or if you need a further reduction, please email me to discuss: creativepiano@tutamail.com.

Please note

This course is educational and cannot replace therapy and other treatment for mental health issues. In some situations, it can be best to wait for a period of relative stability in order to learn mindfulness practice. If you have recently experienced, or are currently going through a traumatic life event (such as separation, bereavement or redundancy), please contact me before booking to discuss your situation, the support networks in place, and to explore how you can best be supported during the course.

The same applies if you have recently received, or are currently receiving, treatment from a psychiatrist, psychotherapist or counsellor - please contact me before booking to discuss your situation, the support networks in place, and to explore how you can best be supported during the course.
