This eight-week course is designed to help you learn new ways of handling whatever life throws at you more calmly, spaciously and creatively.
The core skill you will learn is Mindfulness a way of paying attention, on purpose and non-judgementally, to what goes on in the present moment in your body, mind, and the world around you.
Mindfulness can enable you to see things differently, undoing mental and physical knots and tensions, taking far beyond limiting habits and unhelpful 'programming'. It can increase your sense of personal confidence, of having more options and more strength to face the different challenges in your life.
Like any skill Mindfulness develops with practice over time. You will be asked to commit to about 20-40 home practice each day for the duration of the course, with the support of handouts and CDs provided. There will of course be plenty of time during our sessions to check in on progress and fine tune your approach.
The course will offer:
- guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices.
- gentle stretching and mindful yoga.
- group dialogue and mindful communication exercises to enhance awareness in everyday life.
- Full 'practice day' towards the end of the course
- daily home assignments.
- guided meditations and handouts.
The concessionary places are for students, pensioners and those who are unemployed. If you don't fit that bracket but cannot afford our full rate, please get in touch anyway, and we'll see if we can work something out.
Please note, there will be no session on May 17th, so the course ends on June 28th
