8 week Mindfulness course - for stress reduction and general wellbeing
Thursdays at 10-11am from 13th July
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness has become popular in Western culture over the last few years, but it's nothing new. It's roots are in the ancient practice of meditation - but it's not all about sitting in the lotus position, emptying your mind and saying 'Ommm'!
It teaches us to be more present and aware and less judgemental. This can help us focus, be more compassionate, worry less and make healthier choices.
Mindfulness is proven to help reduce stress and increase your enjoyment of life (though of course I can't guarantee this will happen - if you'd like some more info on the benefits of mindfulness click here).
Who is it for?
Mindfulness can be learned by anyone, regardless of spiritual or religious background. This course is perfect for:
Beginners - you will learn new skills
Dabblers - those who have practiced Mindfulness before and would like to build on/deppen their practice
Do you often feel overwhelmed by stress? Would you like to learn new ways of coping with things? Do you sometimes feel like life is passing you by? Would you like to feel happier but don't know how?
Would you like to find some peace in a frantic world?? Then this course is for you!
What will the course be like?
This course follows the popular 8 week format originally devised by Jon Kabat Zinn. Each week will include some Mindfulness practice and meditations as well as discussion about how to practically implement this into your life. The atmosphere will be friendly, informal and welcoming, with groups no larger than 15.
You will be expected to practice what we have learnt in between sessions to get maximum benefit and it is highly recommended that you come to all 8 sessions.
