Reasons Relevance and Techniques

Mindfulness in the classroom is a teaching session which starts from 1:15 - 3:45pm, it is run by Laurie Pyne. Laurie Pyne strongly believes in creating a more pleasurable learning environment, which often results in people feeling happier and more engaged in their lives and work.

One of the reasons there’s a buzz around Mindfulness is because recent developments in neuroscience areproving that even the simplest tools have the power to improve the way we think, feel, relate, teach and learn. This session is designed for anyone who wants to lower their stress levels, and cope better with the demands of daily life.

It’s also for those who wish to help their students learn to regulate their emotions and gain more awareness about themselves.

This practical session will include:-

Why we’re so prone to busyness and overthinking

How to switch off the autopilot and improve our levels of awareness

How to quit the worry habit and get into the present moment

We will also practice tools for calming and relaxing the mind, which you can use on yourself and with students, as well as an opportunity to develop your confidence in sharing a simple Mindfulness technique with others.

We know that it’s comparatively easy to learn something new and quite another to find a way to teach it! Bring your questions and concerns about how to make Mindfulness useful and relevant to you and your work,

Be prepared to relax whilst you learn!

The session is suitable for both primary and secondary school teachers.
