Event Information
Description
What is a Mindfulness Practice Day?
A Mindfulness Practice Day is a ‘mini-retreat’ day event for those already practising mindfulness. It is ideal for those wanting to refresh or deepen their experience. It is open to those who have had previous mindfulness training - or are experienced in yoga or meditation - you are welcome. Please note that if you are completely new to mindfulness, please contact the course organiser before booking, to discuss how best to support you.
What is the outline of the day?
The day begins at 9am, with time to settle into the space. The first guided practice sessions starts soon after this. Throughout the day, the focus is on deepening into the experience of mindfulness, through a range of practices, including sitting practices, mindful movement, compassion-based practices, the body scan and more - all from standardised mindfulness courses, such as Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction. From 2:30pm onwards, the day is gradually brought to a close, and ends at by 3pm.
Participants need to bring what they need for their practice, such as a mat or cushion, if they wish to sit on the floor, and a yoga mat for the mindful movement practices. For lunch, bring something vegetarian to share. Facilities for making warm drinks - tea, coffee, etc - will be provided.
Who will be leading the practices?
Dr Bernadette Carelse, an experienced and qualified mindfulness teacher, will be leading the practices. She has been practicing meditation and mindful movement since 1993 and teaching since 1998. Since 2013, following additional training to teach mindfulness, she fulfills the UK Network of Mindfulness Teachers Good Practice Guidelines for teaching mindfulness-based courses (see http://mindfulnessteachersuk.org.uk). She regularly runs standardised mindfulness courses, including Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction. The Mindfulness Practice Day is a part of the MBSR course running currently. For more information on this, see http://holisticeducation.co.uk/mindfulness/mbsr/.
How much does it cost?
