Overview

Helping Neurodivergent Learners Feel Safe, Seen, and Ready to Learn with Nicci Trounson and Faiy Rushton

What to expect?

As part of our MiSP Speaker Series for 2025/26, you are warmly invited to join us online to hear Nicci Trounson, mindfulness and well-being teacher at Browns School, a specialist setting for neurodivergent learners, in conversation with Faiy Rushton, MiSP’s Executive Director.

Join us on 19 March 2026, 7pm -8pm (UK time) for a live conversation followed by a Q&A with Nicci.

This event will include reflections and explorations on how mindfulness, emotional well-being, and integrated support systems can help all children—especially the most vulnerable—access education, feel seen, safe, and supported. We’ll consider how this work can lead to improvements in educational access. Whether you're a teacher, parent, or professional, please join for an informative and down-to-earth conversation about inclusion, change, and what a better future for education might look like.

If you have a question for Nicci, please email support@mindfulnessinschools.org one week before the event (i.e. by Thursday 12th March 2026). We will try to ask as many of these as possible during the session.

The session is set to provide thought provoking and inspiring reflections from a key contributor in the field. It will be a chance to come together as a global community. We warmly welcome everyone, whether you are already familiar with MiSP or completely new!

Who is invited?

The webinar is open to ALL so please do invite colleagues and friends.

We are very grateful to Nicci for donating her time to support this MiSP fundraising Speaker Series.

About the Speaker

Nicci Trounson is a mindfulness and well-being teacher at Browns School, a specialist setting for neurodivergent learners. With over 25 years of experience working with young people—and a decade specifically in SEN primary education—she is trained in the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MISP) curricula. She brings together mindfulness, emotional literacy, and therapeutic play to create inclusive, emotionally safe learning environments. Nicci also holds postgraduate qualifications in therapeutic play and teaching. She is currently completing a master’s in teaching Mindfulness at Bangor University. Her approach is informed by both lived and professional insight, including work with the Son-Rise approach for autism, therapeutic interventions and support work in domestic abuse refuges in both the UK and the US.

Nicci is passionate about meeting children where they are developmentally and recognising the complexity of their individual needs. She brings practical, neuro-inclusive strategies to support children facing challenges such as anxiety, sensory overwhelm, attention difficulties, and low self-esteem, working with compassion and creativity to break down barriers to learning.

This event is offered for free. We are a registered charity and if you would like to make a donation you can include one when buying your ticket. It is entirely optional, but this additional support can make a big difference towards our charitable efforts.
