About this event
Dear Friend,
You are cordially invited into my mind.
I will perform MindLand in a VR headset from my home at
Mon August 15 - 2 pm PST/5pm EST/ 10pm GMT (Duration 1 hr)
You can access the show on headset, desktop, mobile. I will send you a link when you book. Please wear headphones, whatever device you use to view the show.
MindLand brings the art of "Fooling" into a dreamlike virtual world as a single performer (Naomi Smyth) shifts between an array of "Masks" (my own internal voices expressed through stylized physical performance) to create an improvised, participatory and autobiographical story with a virtual audience.
MindLand brings the craft of in-person Fool shows to a global audience, by using virtual reality to represent my Masks as Avatars and guide the audience through my internal landscape.
CONTENT WARNING: Because this entire show is improvised I cannot give meaningful trigger warnings. Most likely triggers include: Anxiety, mental health, body and food issues, drug and alcohol use, grief, swearing. However the list is potentially infinite. If you need or want to, please leave the show by closing your browser and email me with any concerns. Your email will be answered and your concerns taken seriously.
You can choose a ‘Participant’’ or ‘Spectator’ ticket. ‘Participants’ will be offered opportunities to talk and interact with me, each other and the set- though none of this is compulsory. ‘Spectators’ are not visible or audible to me or the audience avatars and can roam freely to follow the performance but not affect anything.
