Event description

Description

At Culture Arcade, join in on a workshop to reconstruct damaged cultural heritage sites using Minecraft. The reconstructions are inspired by the Prince Claus Fund’s previous rescue operations of heritage threatened by natural disasters or conflict situations. During these special public workshops, you will learn about cultural heritage and collaboratively play in Minecraft.

The public workshops are open to participants of all ages and free of charge. Materials and equipment are all present in the Culture Arcade. The workshop leaders will provide information on the cultural heritage site and guide participants both in play and in discussions.

About Culture Arcade:
The Prince Claus Fund together with the VALUE Foundation have opened Culture Arcade to draw attention to games as a creative means to understanding other cultures.

On 30 August, Culture Arcade opened at the Prince Claus Fund Gallery in Amsterdam. Video games have become a worldwide phenomenon, and now you can come play in our interactive exhibition and game room. Culture Arcade features games with cultural themes that offer creative insights into the value of cultural heritage around the world.

Also at Culture Arcade, lose yourself in sci-fi works by Omar Gilani Art & Illustration, a young digital artist from Pakistan, whose imagination takes his country into a fantasy future. Omar is part of #YCREATE: a digital movement powered by the Prince Claus Fund aimed at discovering the value of culture for young people across the world and celebrating young creators everywhere. We ask the next generation to share their creative talents and their views on arts and culture.
