Event description

Description

Our regular club for families with children aged 4-11. Every month sees a new adventure for the mini foresters as they learn about wildlife, try a bit of bushcraft, get creative with craft activities and learn how to help the wildlife in the forest.

March – Mini Foresters go tree planting.

Become a true forester for the day. Meet a real forester, learn about what trees we plant and why, before warming up with a hot drink.

April – Bird feeders and bug hotels.

Help us make Wildwood an even better habitat for the forest animals and make something for your garden too!

May – Bluebell trail.

Look for species living in amongst the bluebells at the beautiful ancient woodland setting at Alne Wood.

June – Wild flower hunt.

Learn more about the wildflowers growing in the woodland and meadow and the pollinators that visit them.

July – BioBlitz bug hunt.

Join in with the Heart of England Forest’s first ever BioBlitz. Local experts are helping us find, identify and record how many different species are living at Middle Spernal. Be a part of this exciting 24 hour event.

August – Dragonflies.

How many dragonflies can we find? What other wildlife is living in or around the pond?

September – Reptiles.

Discover the habitat at Coughton Park and find out why it is so good for reptiles. Check the reptile mats and see what you can find.

October – Tree trail.

How many types of tree are growing at Middle Spernal? Look for the leaves & seeds to help you learn about the trees of the Heart of England Forest.

November – Bonfire banquet.

Cook up an autumn feast on the campfire and make some natural fireworks that won’t scare the wildlife.
