Description

Presenters: Lynee Elliot (LSTM) and Shirley Cooper, LDC Development Team

** This is an Online Event - Further details including the programme and URL for the session will be sent to all registered participants **

Often the most challenging aspect of thesis writing, or any other writing for that matter, is finding the time and space to sit down and focus on doing the actual writing. A writing retreat is simply designated time and space away from your normal workplace where you and others can focus on writing and nothing else.

LDC Development hosts regular retreat sessions.

During the period of Covid-19 we will need to meet virtually, but we hope that by setting out specific and protected time for writing, the session can provide structure and a degree of community support; to provide some peer accountability that will help us avoid the distractions of email, social media, the internet, impending meetings, tea making, paper-clip sorting, desk cleaning, lab work, or any other procrastination techniques you’ve been employing in your everyday working practice!

Previous participants have said:

‘I found that without interruptions, my productivity went up.’

‘I have had trouble focussing on my work recently and feel that attending the workshops would make me set aside time for writing/planning my project.’

‘It enabled me to work better on my writing tasks as I had peers around me doing the same thing in a quiet and conducive environment.’

This session offers opportunities to gain skills/behaviours outlined in the following Researcher Development Framework (RDF) subdomains: A3 Creativity, A2 Cognitive abilities, B1 Personal qualities, B2 Self-management, B3 Professional and career development, D2 Communication.

Registration: You are recommended to use your University of Liverpool email to register on Eventbrite and then the calendar invitation will be added to your University calendar. We reserve the right to remove registrations of attendees who do not appear to be members of this University.
