We welcome Edinburgh-based printmaker Susie Wilson to the Arthouse. Susie's work and philosophy is outlined here in her own words:
'My work examines the relationship between the hidden and the seen both metaphorically and physically. Exploring the book form enables me to combine print, paint and collage in a more sculptural way. The intimacy of holding the book, each page hiding then revealing the next, creates an atmosphere that is deeply personal. I am interested in this sense of revelation.'
You can see examples of her beautiful work on her website.
This one-day workshop focuses on tunnel books. Tunnel books and carousels are miniature dioramas inspired by theatre set design and traditionally were often sold as souvenirs. This one day workshop will use the garden surrounding Off the Rails as the starting point to develop a multi layered book that evokes a sense of place. The layers of the book will be created by drawing, cutting, collage and simple printmaking. Susie has delivered this workshop in other venues with great success, allowing students to develop a personal response to the local environment while developing strong technical skills.
You will end up with a unique, intriguing artwork.
