Ministry of the Table is an opportunity to step into the heart of Glasgow City Mission’s work and see how food and hospitality shape the life of our community. At the table, barriers are lowered, conversation begins, and people experience dignity and welcome.
The evening will bring together voices from across the Mission: staff who lead the daily work, volunteers who serve faithfully, and guests who have encountered friendship and hope through a shared meal. Their stories will give an honest picture of both the challenges we face and the transformation that takes place when people are given space to belong.
Alongside these conversations, food will be prepared and shared, offering a taste of the hot, nutritious, and diverse dishes regularly served at our drop-ins. This practical expression of hospitality will sit at the centre of the evening, reminding us that meals are not only about nourishment but about connection and care.
There will also be time for reflection on the deeper meaning of hospitality within the Christian faith, including prayer and worship together. Through this we will consider how the simple act of breaking bread opens up space for encounter with one another and with God.
Ministry of the Table is an invitation to see the table not just as a place to eat, but as a place of welcome, community, and hope.
