Course Content Overview:

Upper Limb Injuries

  • Shoulder: History, red flags, ROM, rotator cuff, AC joint assessment
  • Elbow: Dislocations, fractures, red flags, focused clinical tests
  • Wrist & Hand: Sprains, fractures, soft tissue injuries, neurovascular checks, splinting

Lower Limb Injuries

  • Knee: Ligament/meniscal injuries, Lachman’s and McMurray’s tests
  • Ankle & Foot: Ottawa Ankle Rules, Achilles tendon assessment, fracture identification
  • Use of clinical decision-making tools and evidence-based practice in injury management

Head & Cervical Spine Injuries

  • NICE Head Injury Guidelines and red flag identification
  • C-Spine clearance using Canadian C-Spine Rule, immobilisation techniques

X-Ray Interpretation

  • Musculoskeletal x-ray interpretation basics
  • Recognising common fracture types

Burns & Wound Care

  • Classification, first aid, wound management, dressing selection
  • Minor burns and scalds care, wound closure basics
  • Documentation and safeguarding principles

Pre-Course E-Learning Modules:

  • History Taking for Minor Injuries
  • Writing a Clinical Statement
  • Introduction to the Manchester Triage System
