Event description

Description

In July this year, the Commission on Islam, Participation & Public Life published the findings of its 18-month national evidence gathering exercise in the form of a report titled, "The Missing Muslims: Unlocking British Muslim Potential for the Benefit of All" (available as a free download here). Expressing its concern about the increasing absence of Muslims from British civil society, the report set out eighteen recommendations for civil society and the business sector, government and local authorities, and Muslim communities across the country.

This discussion-based workshop will attempt to identify which of the report's recommendations have the greatest priority for those living and working in Birmingham. More importantly, the workshop will consider what might be the best approaches for achieving change as regards the priority recommendations and what public action might be the most appropriate.

Prior to attendance, it would be beneficial for you to have familiarised yourself with the report's findings and the recommendations subsequently made.

This event is hosted as part of the College's three year civic and public engagement programme, Birmingham's Muslims: in the city, of the city.

The workshop is free to attend but registration is essential. Light refreshments will be provided.
