Missing People Family and Friends Day 2017
Sat 1 July 2017, 09:30 – 16:30 BST
On Saturday 1st July we will be holding our 5th annual Family Day providing an opportunity for families and friends with experience of having a loved one go missing the chance to come together. The day is completely free will be held at Amnesty International UK, Human Rights Action Centre, 17-25 New Inn Road, London EC2A 3EA as it has been over the past few years.
This year we would like to open the day up to the whole family including brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, grandparents, partners and children (we will be providing a facilitated children’s area giving parents the chance to attend and fully engage with the day). We recognise that families come in all different shapes and sizes and this year we would like to extend our invitation to close friends of those who have gone missing too.
We hope to create an informal, calm and relaxed atmosphere with as many opportunities as possible for you to meet others and share your stories, thoughts, and experiences, as much or as little as you want. There will be workshops throughout the day for you to attend and the chance to just connect with others who might have an understanding of your experience. Some of the workshops and sessions we are planning to provide are:
- Share your story sessions running throughout the day
- Police surgeries
- Advice around engaging with and using media opportunities and social media
- Ways to remember you missing loved one
- Relaxation techniques and Yoga
- Facilitated children’s crèche
- Self-care including acupuncture, manicure, reflexology and Indian head massage
- Missing People Choir
- Ask us a question about Missing People
- Memory Quilt
We will provide lunch and refreshments throughout the day. If you have any questions regarding this year’s Family Day please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
