The symposium offers an opportunity for a community of professionals to join forces to recentre Black voices and experiences in Therapy. You will be invited to continue discussions and a movement to create positive changes in therapy and the wider community.
The symposium will be presented by Cync. It brings perspectives from experienced Therapists and Academics in a series of panels and workshops. The panels will again be hosted by BBC1xtra DJ and Presenter, Richie Brave.
The symposium will invite participants to engage in discussions exploring:
- The impacts of Racism and Racial discrimination on Mental Health and well-being,
- How we can create more inclusive Therapy practices,
- Exploring power dynamics in the therapeutic relationships and creating safer spaces for Black and global majority communities,
- International perspectives on Therapy practice - comparing approaches in communities where back communities are the majority community and where communities are representative of a minority community.
This event is the second installment of an event which Cync hosted at the Royal Albert Hall in 2024. It is an opportunity for those who missed the discussion to come to the table and for those who attended to extend the discussion, bringing it into a grass-roots community venue.
The symposium will use discussions and the arts to move us to move us through and process discussions. Please note, that workshops need to be booked in early October 2025. We so look forward to seeing you there!
