Event description

Description

Mission X Train Like an Astronaut is a free educational programme developed by NASA scientists and fitness professionals working with astronauts and space agencies across the world.

Mission X uses the excitement of space exploration to inspire students to learn about science, nutrition, exercise and space.

It is aimed at students aged 8 to 12 but the activities can be adapted to suit other ages. The programme can be delivered either through the curriculum, through collapsed timetable days, through homework challenges or clubs … or a mixture!

ESA Astronaut and 2015 Mission X Ambassador Samantha Cristoferetti said, "Your body is your spaceship for life" and the Train Like an Astronaut activities are designed to help you stay healthy through life.

Teams of students will learn principles of healthy eating and exercise, compete for points, and get excited about space and the educational possibilities for their own future. Students will practice scientific reasoning and teamwork while participating in hands-on training missions targeting strength, endurance, coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and more.

In this free teacher CPD session you will learn more about Mission X from an educators point of view, try out some of the challenges and take home free resources to help you and your students train like an astronaut!

There is no obligation to sign up, but we will give you all the tools to do so.
