About this event

Run by Smart City Consultancy Ltd and Code for Her. This exciting event brings together innovators, developers, designers, and data enthusiasts to tackle real-world urban challenges using the power of data.

City Data Challenge. Where's the data? What format and condition is the data? How can you better understand and use the data? What data is missing?

What is a Hackathon?

A time-bound event where participants work collaboratively in teams to develop innovative solutions to specific problems and present solutions at the end. It's not just about "hacking" in the traditional sense; it's about rapid prototyping, creative problem-solving, and bringing ideas to life in a condensed time frame. Mentors will be on hand to provide guidance, and the focus is on learning, collaboration, and generating impactful ideas not about a finished solution. It is the fastest way to learn. All levels of experience are welcome.

Data Sources?

Have you ever tried to find city data, or share data? It can be hard to do so on your own. Let's collaborate and have fun scavenger hunting for data and sharing what we find whilst learning and building data skills. We will have Smart City give a talk about the Data Exchange and how to gain access.

Why is Data Important?

Data is the lifeblood of a smart city. It provides insights into how our city functions, from traffic patterns and energy consumption to public service usage and environmental quality. By collecting, analysing, and visualizing this data, we can identify inefficiencies, predict future needs, and make informed decisions that lead to better urban planning, more efficient services, and an enhanced quality of life for all residents. Data empowers us to understand our city's pulse and design solutions that are truly evidence-based and effective.
