With the introduction of fees, Employment Tribunals occur much less frequently than they did and as a result practical experience both for HR and for managers is much less available.
Shakespeare Martineau is delighted to be running another Mock Employment Tribunal in partnership with Coventry & Warwickshire and the Birmingham CIPD branches. This event will be a chance to understand the tribunal process, experience how a hearing is conducted and see how the outcome is determined.
The employment team from Shakespeare Martineau will present a live mock employment tribunal hearing – from start to finish - with witnesses giving evidence. Unlike observers at a real tribunal, delegates will be provided with documentation beforehand to familiarise themselves with the case. After the witness evidence is heard and closing submissions are made, a tribunal will determine the result and judgement will be delivered but delegates will have an opportunity to vote on their own view as to the outcome.
There will be an opportunity at the session for delegates to be able to ask questions of the witnesses as well as the other participants in terms of the proceedings themselves and to discuss the outcome – would you have decided the case the same way? An examination of the way evidence is treated by the tribunal will help with better practice and a corresponding reduction in risk for your business
What is the event timing?
Registration and lunch will take place between 12:00 and 12:45; the Mock Tribunal will open at 13:00 and the event will close at 16:30.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is car parking available for delegates at the venue.
What is the refund policy?
The delegate for for CPD members is £25 plus VAT, and for non-members it is £40 plus VAT. Places may be cancelled up to 1 week before the event, after that the delegate fee is non-refundable
