Mock Jury Trial: University of Huddersfield
Mock Jury Trial Research
Thank you for following the link to register your place as a juror in the live recreation of a criminal trial at the University of Huddersfield. Please note places are limited and available on a first come first served basis.
As previously explained in your letter of invitation, attending this experiment will involve you taking on the role of 1 of 12 jurors listening to evidence in a re-enactment of a criminal trial and at the end of the case be asked to deliberate in a private room before returning your collective verdict to the Court. You will also be asked to answer a short questionnaire before and after the trial so please bring your reading glasses, where necessary.
The trial will start at 11am as is typical in a real case and therefore we ask that you arrive in good time at the University, so that the day’s events and formal instructions can be given. Tea and Coffee will be available upon arrival and volunteers will be on hand to greet you from 10.00am. We ask that you please arrive by 10.20am at the latest so as not to delay the onset of the trial. Important note - the case you will hear is based upon a crime of a sexual nature and although there will be no graphic or distressing images, please bear this in mind before agreeing to partake.
Finally, we ask that you please only book a place if you intent to come and take part. The research has been a major undertaking getting to this point and difficult to get all parties involved together for the trial and therefore while we greatly appreciate your participation, we kindly ask that if you need to cancel you let us know as soon as possible so your place can be reallocated.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 23rd October 2016 - feel free to get in touch with any queries you may have.
