Event description
This one-day conference will give insights into how to effectively lead teams - of both players and staff - in 2020.

About this Event

TGG will be exploring modern leadership at our next live event, at Emirates Old Trafford on Thursday April 23rd.

This one-day conference will give insights into how to effectively lead teams - of both players and staff - in 2020. We will be looking at a range of issues, including how to: develop a good culture, build resilience, empower players, foster creativity and experimentation, communicate effectively, use technology to aid learning and understand the changing neurology of the adolescent brain.

The cost of a ticket is £99 and includes a buffet lunch, refreshments and conference materials.

Once again we are delighted to welcome speakers with top-level experience and insights:

Dr Pippa Grange is the former Head of People and Team Development at the Football Association and describes herself as a “culture coach” who works on resilience and “the soul of the team”.

Pippa, who was performance psychologist for the England men’s team during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, will be explaining why sustained winning is underpinned by good culture and why quality relationships are at the heart of successful teams.

Brian Ashton MBE is the former England rugby coach who now works as a coaching consultant for the likes of Manchester United, the Premier League and the International Rugby Academy of New Zealand.

His coaching philosophy is underpinned by a street games approach, which means "giving players a sense of engagement by encouraging experimentation and sharing decision-making and planning”.

Brian will be explaining how, as a coach, “you prepare the way, giving players the tools, resources and opportunities” to do this.

Dan Micciche is Arsenal’s Under-16 Head Coach and is regarded as one of the most innovative coaches working in Academy football.

The former MK Dons manager will explore how to foster creativity in young players, the balance between development and results, and explain the importance of video as a learning tool.

David Webb has been Head of Football Operations since August 2019 and was formerly Technical Director at Swedish side Ostersunds.

With a background as an Academy coach at Crystal Palace and Tottenham, Webb has experience from the ground up. He will be talking about how to establish culture and values that run throughout a club.

Dr Lorraine O'Malley is part of the City Football Loans Department, providing performance psychology and wellbeing support at player, staff and club level.

Prior to this, she worked with Manchester City Women for two years, providing sport psychology support.

At the event, Lorraine will be giving insight into the player-centred approach and how modern leadership is co-created by both player and staff.

Dr Perry Walters is a coach and psychology consultant at Bristol City and a visiting fellow at Bristol University. He will be explaining the changes in neurology of the adolescent brain and how this should influence your coaching.

Please note: Programme subject to change; refunds will be offered up to 30 days before start of event (Eventbrite fees non-refundable).
