Modern Rag Rug Techniques Workshop at Kirkstall Forge

Modern Rag Rug Techniques Workshop at Kirkstall Forge

By Darn It! Workshops

Overview

Learn the heritage art of Rag Rugging, turning scraps of fabric and rope into works of art.

Rag Rugging is a technique traditionally used to turn rags into textural rags. In this open ended session you'll learn two versatile rag rug techniques that can be used to make a piece of wall art, homewares, a brooch or more. As rag rugging takes a long time to complete you may not finish your piece in the session (but if you opt to do a brooch you will do) but will go away with tools and skills to complete it. There will be a wide range of fabric scraps, recycled materials, colourful rope, buttons and other things to choose from to make your piece unique.

This workshop will take place in Butlers at Kirkstall Forge. There's a train station on site and Kirkstall Forge wants to encourage sustainability, but there is parking available. Sadly the cafe will not be open, but you’re welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks.

Safety:

There will be hand sanitiser available, social distancing in place and spaces will be limited. If you feel unwell, have symptoms of covid or have been in contact with anyone who has please let me know so you can be moved onto a future session.

Course conditions:

The workshop needs minimum numbers to run. In the unlikely event it doesn't meet this the workshop will be cancelled. Your booking is secured by payment and if you choose to cancel you get a refund up to 7 days before the event however after that no refund can be given. Please don’t arrive more than 10 minutes before the workshop is due to start unless previously arranged.
