Modern Slavery Business Workshop



Hosted by the Bradford Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery Network, a partnership between West Yorkshire Police, Bradford Council, and a number of other partners. This event is for local businesses in the Bradford District who may come into contact with victims of modern slavery.


On completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:


  • Explain what human trafficking is and the different types that exist

  • Recognise the signs/indicators of different types of trafficking

  • Respond appropriately to a victim / case of human trafficking




Slavery in Supply Chains and Recruitment

9:00am - 12:00pm

This morning session will cover forced labour, domestic servitude, responsible recruitment and spotting the signs of slavery in supply chains.

Perfect for medium sized professional businesses in fields such as recruitment, construction, factories, real estate. The morning will raise awareness of human trafficking and modern slavery, with specific reference to forced labour. This session will also educate attendees about supply chain accountability, and offer further assistance to larger companies in their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Speaking at this morning session will be modern slavery ambassador Elaine Mitchell-Hill from Marshalls PLC, Michael Coles from GLAA Stronger Together and Sara Squires from Hope for Justice.


Slavery in the Night Time Economy

1:00pm - 4:00pm

This afternoon session will cover forced prostitution and criminal activity. Training attendees to spot the signs of slavery at community level.

Perfect for on-the-ground community businesses, especially night time businesses such as taxi firms, hotels, takeaways, nail bars, and the session will equip them in recognising suspicious activity, and encourage them to report it appropriately. This afternoon will be hosted by West Yorkshire Police and Hope for Justice, with other partner agencies delivering carousel break-outs.
