Event description

Description

Modern Slavery is a priority for the West Sussex Safer Communities Partnership as one of the areas of high risk due to the severe and long term impact that it has upon the vulnerable, which includes the exploitation of men, women and children, and the need for a multi-agency response to tackle it effectively.

Modern Slavery is also a type of abuse within the Care Act 2014 that provides the statutory footing for adult safeguarding responses. Under the Modern slavery Act 2015, local authorities have a duty to notify the Home Office of any individual encountered in England and Wales who they believe is a suspected victim of slavery or human trafficking.

This half day Modern Slavery Single Point of contact training is specifically aimed at individual’s who will voluntarily act as advisors on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking for key agencies and teams who are working on the front line or customer facing services, supporting and working with children and adults. In your role as Modern Slavery SPOC you will become the allocated point of contact for cases of slavery and human trafficking within your organisation or department, where information is time-sensitive and accuracy is important.
