WHAT IS MODERN SLAVERY?

Modern Slavery Workshops 2018

Modern slavery is happening in Bristol today, often in plain sight. Are you confident that you would recognise it if you saw it happening? Would you know how to respond to victims while keeping them safe?

Bristol based charity Unchosen are offering 2 hour workshops suitable for everyone working in our city. Participants will develop an awareness of what modern slavery might look like in their communities, as well as their working life, and what they can do about it.

This training is particularly recommended for all local authority employees as they have a statutory duty to take action when they identify victims of modern slavery and the workshop will explain this process.

Participants will develop an awareness of:

  • What modern slavery is and how it works (forced labour, criminal or sexual exploitation)
  • The National Referral Mechanism, local authority employees statutory duties, and the role of First Responders
  • What to do when faced with a potential victim
  • Understanding local provision.
