Event description

Description

The Modern Studies Association (MSA) Annual Conference is the highlight of the MSA's calendar. This year's Annual Conference will be held in the Scottish Parliament on Saturday 2 November 2019.

The event will start at 10am (with registration open from 9am) and run until 3.15pm, with a variety of topic-specific keynote addresses and hands on workshops that aim to provide Modern Studies Teachers with a great CLPL experience.

As part of this year's event, we are delighted to announce that Conference will be held in the chamber of the Scottish Parliament, with keynote speakers focussing on the 20th anniversary of devolved governance in Scotland. Thereafter, each attendee will attend two seminars (you will choose these during booking), with one being the opportunity to tour the building and speak to colleagues in the Parliament's Education and Outreach team. The day's programme will also include lunch and an opportunity to meet stallholders, who will no doubt offer a range of different teaching materials and offer the opportuntiy to form professional connections that will enhance professional understanding, as well as learning and teaching in our classrooms.

If your establishment or local authority will be paying for your ticket and they wish to pay via invoice, then this is possible. Just click the green ‘Tickets’ button at the top of the page, select your desired ticket type and quantity, before hitting ‘Checkout’. When the page loads, scroll down to the ‘Payment’ section and choose ‘Pay by invoice’ from the drop-down menu next to ‘Payment method’. When you have completed the booking process, an invoice should be attached to your booking confirmation e-mail, though this might arrive in your Spam or Junk folder(s).

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

This year's Annual Conference will take place at the Scottish Parliament. Parking around the Parliament is limited though car parks are available at St John’s Hill or adjacent to Waverley Station, via New Street. The Scottish Parliament's postcode is EH99 1SP. The Parliament building is also a 15-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station. Edinburgh Bus Station is also within walking distance.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

You can use the 'Contact' button under our name at the bottom of the Eventbrite listing. Alternatively, you can send us an e-mail via members@msa-scotland.net. We aim to respond as soon as possible, though please bear in mind that a quick response isn't guaranteed.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

The Scottish Parliament is a secure public building, so bringing evidence of your booking - as well as formal identification - is highly recommended. You can print your ticket off, or use the Eventbrite app on your smartphone to provide security officials with evidence of your booking.

My establishment will pay for the ticket, how do I get an invoice?

Just click the green ‘Tickets’ button at the top of the page, select your desired ticket type and quantity, before hitting ‘Checkout’. When the page loads, scroll down to the ‘Payment’ section and choose ‘Pay by invoice’ from the drop-down menu next to ‘Payment method’. When you have completed the booking process, an invoice should be attached to your booking confirmation e-mail, though this might arrive in your Spam or Junk folder(s).
