In April 2018, join the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed (IPSE) and the think tank Demos in Westminster for a high-level policy conference on self-employment and the future of work.
The conference programme will explore a range of key issues to do with the rise of self-employment in the modern economy, such as:

Ways to improve the security of self-employment, including the issue of pensions and lifetime savings;

The opportunities self-employment opens for older workers, parents, the disabled and other groups seeking flexible working structures;
-
How technology is shaping people’s working lives; and
-
Preparing the labour market for the rise of automation.
The day will open with a presentation from Demos of findings from a major new research project into the UK’s self-employment economy. There will be special keynote speeches from prominent Government and business leaders on building a future-oriented and flexible labour markets. The conference will place a strong emphasis on audience participation and interaction throughout, and the day will conclude with a networking drinks reception.
IPSE is the leading representative body for over two million independent, self-employed and freelance workers in the UK, and Demos is the leading future-focused, cross-party think tank dedicated to social and economic change.
IPSE and Demos’ joint conference will bring together some of the nation’s most dynamic, resourceful and creative entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals, alongside leading policy-makers, business figures and the media, to debate the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing our labour market.
