Event description

Description

Discover the revolutionary Modernist homes and idealistic architecture built in Hampstead in the 1930s such as The Sun House by Maxwell Fry, and 66 Frognal by Connel Ward and Lucus. Much of the architecture echoed design trends in Europe and the walk includes passing housing by the émigré architects Ernst Freud and Erno Goldfinger. Elements of eighteenth-century architectural design were also an influence for some architects.

Passing some more recent examples and of course striking non modernist Hampstead buildings, this walk will finish at the iconic and idealistic Isokon flats in Belsize Park. Here you can discover how the émigré designers accomodated here in 1930s, were so important for Isokon.

This walk is from Hampstead Tube (outside High Street entrance) to Belsize Park

You can check travel options at the Transport for London Journey Planner.
