Modernist Poetry and the Little Magazine

Thursday 28 September 3pm

To celebrate National Poetry Day, Dr Francesca Bratton explores the relationship between modernist poetry and the little magazines that were instrumental to its development and dissemination. Drawing on the National Library’s extensive collections of literary periodicals, she offers an introduction to the key characteristics of modernist poetry. The talk aims to shed light on key poems by Anglophone poets during the 1920s and 1930, including T S Eliot's 'The Waste Land' and 'The Bridge' by lesser known American poet Hart Crane.
