Tue, 24 May 2016, 13:00 – Fri, 10 Jun 2016, 16:00 GMT
Professor: Michael Wagemans
Course ID: 9256
Globalization, technological advances and increasing regulation mean that change is the only constant, and businesses must constantly change if they are to keep up and thrive. As they seek new strategic directions, undertake mergers and acquisitions, join partnerships, restructure or re-engineer processes to stay ahead, the ability to create an aligned organization around these initiatives is what separates extraordinary businesses and leaders from the rest of the pack .The ability to inspire and implement such strategically-driven change is one of the most important qualities a business leader can possess. The purpose of this course is to develop awareness and understanding of the particular dynamics of initiating, managing and achieving successful organizational change in different business contexts, and to develop skills for assessing and addressing the personal, interpersonal and organizational impact associated with achieving such change in organizations. This is particularly critical at a time when businesses are being forced to re-think strategies and are looking towards international markets for survival and growth. Students will become acquainted with resources and measures to cope with the nature and complexity of change in an international context, including developing an understanding of the effects of different leadership styles; the importance of recognizing and involving stakeholders; and the ramifications of alternative approaches for driving change. In a rapidly changing business climate, planning, managing, enacting, surviving and evaluating personal and organizational change are challenges that concern everyone. The ability to execute timely change and create an organization that embraces change is what differentiates successful leaders from the rest of the pack.
