Mojo Live After 5
11 January 2012: From the Classroom to the Boardroom: developing the skills we need for life in the 21st Century.
Imagine an event that delivers inspiration, insight, entertainment and some fabulous networking. That’s what you can expect from MojoLife ‘Live after 5’. This is no ordinary business networking or learning event: being ‘Mojo’ we do things differently…
The Mojo Chat Show
Based on the TV chat show format, Live After 5 features an interview with two guests in front of a live audience. Each month our guests are drawn from a particular area of work or business and provide valuable insights on business performance, career transition and personal goals. Towards the end of the session, the audience has an opportunity to join the discussion and ask questions (these may be submitted to us before if you wish). We want you to come away from Live After 5 with renewed ‘mojo’ and a host of tips and ideas to further your ambitions.

"Developing the skills we need for life in 21st Century"
Employers are complaining that skills like the ability to communicate, innovate, think laterally, build relationships and sell are in short supply. At the same time, many children are disengaged and bored at school.
Is the current education system preparing our children for the new world of work and other challenges they'll face over the next few decades? Is talent being identified and nurtured? Lord Puttnam has raised concerns in a documentary (see the trailer) and it’s clearly a relevant issue for parents and others concerned with what lies ahead for future generations.
It also raises issues about us and our attitudes to work - are we nurturing our own leadership potential, our communication skills, our creative capacity and our ability to adapt and collaborate? Are we creating the right environment for our teams to develop as leaders and influencers?
Dan Haesler
Teacher, writer, speaker
Originally from Manchester, Dan now resides in Sydney, Australia where he teaches Health and Physical Education. He is an advocate of the ideas raised in Sir Ken Robinson’s celebrated TED Talk (2005) about nurturing creativity through our schools. Like Sir Ken, he has major concerns about what our education systems are doing to the growth and mental well-being of our children. In his view, our obsession with measurement and examinations can suck the life out of education and does little to develop the creative skills we need to navigate our way through the 21st century.
In 2010 he was awarded the New South Wales Government Scholarship to address and raise awareness of youth depression. His report to Government will be published in 2012.
As well as speaking at conferences around Australia, Dan’s work has been featured in professional journals and the national media including Channel 10 and the ABC. He also writes for the education pages of Australia’s most respected newspaper, the Sydney Morning Herald.
What people are saying about Dan Haesler
“Dan Haesler is doing wonderful work in incorporating some of the concepts of positive psychology with his vision of a 21st century education. He is both engaging and thought provoking.” Tal Ben-Shahar PhD – New York Times best-selling author & lecturer, Harvard University, USA
“Dan Haesler is an inspirational teacher who speaks with skill and passion about the most important issue in education today; the mental health of our children! It is a real privilege working with him! He brings a fresh, moving and often amusing perspective to an issue that is all too often, left on the periphery of education thinking.” Richard Gerver –Author of Creating Tomorrow’s Schools Today & UK Headteacher of the Year 2005.
”I was delighted to welcome Dan Haesler to speak at the WA and QLD Positive Schools conferences in 2011. Dan was a keynote speaker alongside Steve Biddulph. He spoke confidently and passionately to 750 fellow teachers. He was humorous, energetic and moving as he carried the audience with his words from start to finish. I recommend him highly and look forward to seeing him talk again.” Helen Street PhD – Associate Professor, School of Psychiatry, University of Western Australia
