In the aftermath of the Peterloo Massacre on the 16th August 1819, Winlaton ironworkers led an enormous demonstration on Newcastle Town Moor.
The Derwent Valley was in turmoil and political radicalism was on the rise.
In this illustrated talk, local novelist Val Scully will outline the historical events, influences and characters of the period and describe the process of weaving them into her novel, Molly Bowes.
Ticket price includes a glass of Prosecco or juice and a savoury bite.
