A health walk lasting approx 1 hour and covering a distance of 2.5 miles - various East Ayrshire locations

PLEASE NOTE...IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING THE WALK AS A COUPLE OR WITH A FRIEND, YOU ARE REQUIRED (FOR TRACK & TRACE PURPOSES ) TO BOOK INDIVIDUALLY FOR EACH PERSON ATTENDING THE WALK**.

Our health walk provides an opportunity to socialize with a group in a safe way (physical distancing in place) and could benefit your physical and mental health. The walk will last approx an hour and cover a distance of around 2.5 miles.

There are 6 routes which vary each week. Please check your date against the information below to ensure you know where the meeting place is for your chosen date. More detail about each route can be found beneath the date list.

  • 2nd May - NO WALK AS BANK HOLIDAY
  • 9th May - Crookedholm
  • 16th May - Galston
  • 23rd May- Shanks Pony
  • 30th May- Two Parks Trail
  • 6th June - Stewarton route
  • 13th June -Knockentiber route
  • 20th June - Crookedholm
  • 27th June - Galston

Borland Route

A mix of quiet country roads, woodland footpaths and residential pavements. Meeting place is outside Tesco, Glasgow Road, Kilmarnock (KA3 1UT).

Crookedholm Route

A mixture of residential pavements, quiet country roads and riverside footpaths. Walk includes 2 uphill and downhill sections. Meeting place is Grougar Road car park, Crookedholm, KA3 6LA

Galston Route

Quiet country roads and residential streets. This route has a fairly steady uphill gradient for the first half. Meeting place is in the car park of Tesco, Galston (KA4 8HG).

Two Park Trail

A mix of woodland and residential connecting the Kay Park and Dean Castle. Meeting place is Burns Monument Centre, Kay Park (in front of Burns statue).

Shanks Pony

Residential streets, country roads and traffic-free paths. There is one short, steep uphill section between the road and cycle path. Meeting place is the start of cycle track on Western Rd, Kilmarnock (at the Shanks Pony sculpture).

Stewarton

A lovely woodland walk. There is a set of steps on this route as well as some hilly bits. Meeting place is the main entrance to Lainshaw Woods, David Dale Avenue.

Knockentiber

Traffic-free paths and country roads. Meeting place is the play area off Kilmaurs Road, Knockentiber.

Our Health Walks can take place in line with The Scottish Government's current Covid-19 guidelines.
