'Woodland Explorers' are Forest School sessions for children aged 1-4 years on Monday and Thursday mornings. Come and delve into our beautiful woods, explore our mud kitchen, meet some worms in our digging bed, and enjoy some stories around the fire! Our sessions encourage free-flow, child-initiated exploration in our private forest, embellished with a different craft activity and campfire snack every week.

TICKETS:

-Monday Term Dates: 24/01, 31/01, 07/02, 14/02

-Thursday Term Dates: 27/01, 03/02, 10/02, 17/02

-Timings on Mondays and Thursdays: 9:15-10:30 and 11:00-12:15

-Children must be accompanied by an adult, and siblings up to age 4 are welcome to join at a reduced price - please purchase a sibling ticket. Under 1's come for free!

-Please be aware that tickets can only be bought in full termly blocks - please choose which day and time you would like to book onto by selecting the FIRST day of your remaining 1 week term.

THE WAY OUR SESSIONS FLOW:

-Sessions run as a free-flow, child-led exploration of the forest. Our circle time together actually comes at the end of our session - instead we always begin by letting the children delve straight into the forest independently, exploring the woodland with you at their own pace.

-Each week we offer two new creative activities and a seasonal tuff-tray sensory exploration, alongside our permanent weekly activities on offer such as the digging bed, mud kitchen, skittles, charcoal painting and much more.

-We like to create a relaxed environment where the children can roam as freely as they like, all within the safety of our private, secure woodland.

-Towards the end of our session, we will gather in a circle around a fire for a delicious snack and seasonal singing or storytime.

PARKING AND LOCATION:

-Our private Forest School is situated in the woodland behind the cafe.

-Please be aware that it can take a little while to walk to us from the car park, which is situated on Long Beach Road.

-Please avoid blocking the road by parking within the Willsbridge Mill site itself, as it prevents the bin men and cafe delivery drivers from accessing the Mill

WHAT TO BRING:

-Every week please bring a bowl, spoon and cup for our fireside snack. You are welcome to bring your own snacks for you and your child in addition to this.

-Please dress your child in suitable clothing - plenty of warm layers, a hat, gloves and waterproofs when it's cold. Snowboots are better than wellies for warmth, but if your child has wellies, plenty of thick socks are advised. When it’s hot, closed shoes, a hat, and long, loose-fitting sleeves and trousers are best for keeping cool but covered up

-You may wish to bring wipes and a rubbish bag for your litter. The nearest bins are at the cafe.

FACILITIES:

- There is no buggy parking under cover so please bring your pram rain cover. We can offer tarpaulins to drape over your prams as an extra cover if you need them. Alternatively, bring your little one in a sling or walk to us, where possible!

-There is a compost toilet in our woodland and a public toilet with changing facilities at the cafe, which is open Weds-Sunday.
