Monday Xtra History Sessions: Racism, Afriphobia & The UK Music Industry
THE RE:IMI UK MUSIC INDUSTRY AND RACISM FILM REMIX: The history of racism in British music and how the industry is dealing with it.
RE:IMI (Race Equality: In Music Industry) co-ordinator Kwaku, wearing the hat of history consultant, leads this important forum highlighting the little-known histories of music and the interplay of racism and Afriphobia in the UK over the decades.
Following the screening of 'The RE:IMI UK Music Industry And Racism' video, special guest Prof. Paul Gilroy, Director of the Sarah Parker Remond Centre for the Study of Racism & Racialisation, will summarise and offer some discussion points.

6.00-6.05pm Mash-up of George Floyd-inspired tracks
6.05-6.30pm Introduction by Kwaku (BBM/BMC/RE:IMI) and screening of 'The RE:IMI UK Music Industry And Racism' remix video
6.30-6.45pm Summation by Prof Paul Gilroy
6.45-7.45pm Presentations by music industry organisation representatives, plus special guests

Representatives of some of the UK music industry organisations interviewed for the RE:IMI Black Out Tuesday UK Music Industry Race Diversity Report (click here) will then make presentations, updating the attendees on their post-George Floyd anti-racism/Afriphobia and African heritage-facing diversity programmes.
After which the floor would be open for an open discussion.
