Across the voluntary sector, there are mixed attitudes towards charging for our support. For many, our natural instinct is to provide much needed services first, then worry about the costs later.
In addition, concerns are frequently raised about how potential funders stipulate what they will or will not fund. Some trusts, for example, say they will only pay for services to be delivered but not cover any overhead or operational costs.
As a result, more and more organisations are worried about the widening gap between the funding available and the money needed to keep an organisation viable and to sustain their services without compromising what they do.
'Money Matters' is a course that aims to address the practical aspects of developing a pricing model, which identifies all the related costs of a service, and at the same time explores the difficulties people have with being asked to think and operate in a more commercial way.
The programme is provided jointly by Creating Space for You and Outsource, and is a full day training event with a free one hour 1-2-1 follow up session.
Thanks to funding from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation York Committee, it's available for just £30 (plus a small booking fee).
