Event description

Description

Join the Personal Finance Research Centre and the International Longevity Centre UK (ILC-UK) for a special panel discussion on money, mental health and ageing.

The population in the UK is both growing and ageing. By 2040, 75 and overs will double to around 10 million. By 2045, around 1 in 4 people in the UK will be aged 65 or over.

While average pensioner income has increased by an estimated 50% in real terms between 1995 and 2011, we know there are a significant number of people aged 50 and over who are struggling to manage financially. Many of these people will suffer poor mental health as a consequence. It is imperative this relationship is taken into account in policy and practice.

This panel event brings together experts from the fields of public policy, mental health advocacy and vulnerable consumer protection:

  • Lucy Malenczuk, Senior Policy Manager – Financial Services, Age UK
  • Stuart McFadden, Head of Financial Difficulties, Monzo
  • Vanessa Northam, UK Vulnerable Consumer Manager, E.ON
  • David Sinclair, Director, International Longevity Centre – UK
  • Paul Spencer, Policy and Campaigns Manager, MIND

Please join us to help advance our understanding of the relationship between money, mental health and ageing.
