Event Details

This fascinating morning, with a background lecture by Gayna Pelham and a visit to the exhibition Monochrome: Painting in Black and White at the National Gallery, will explore the tradition of painting en grisaille, often emulating sculpture or responding to other media such as printmaking, photography and film, from its beginnings in the Middle Ages to the present day. A range of works, both pantings and objects will be displayed by  artists such as Mantegna and Leonardo, Rembrandt,  Degas and Picasso.
