Welcome to Social Photography

My name is Daniel i started Social Photography whilst based in Cambridge.

I have created this event now as a way for others to socialize and get the experience of social photography in Newcastle.

While i will not be in attendance for this event i have created a time and a place and all the members who attend get invited into a private what's app group full of amazing friendly photographers of all levels. After you have attended the event contact me on @south.south7 and i will send you the link , also if you upload any images to instagram then feel free to collaborate with @UKsocialphotography to have your images uploaded to our main feed and share your amazing work with everyone.

Meeting at Cafe 16 in Newcastle Cathedral I ask you to bring your camera with you and have it out visible to others.

If you are the FIRST to the event take a seat and display your camera on the table to show other members who will also be displaying their cameras.

What shall we do on our walk ?

When you decide to begin your walk if you haven't already decided on some locations then as you walk around always have your camera ready and at a high enough shutter speed.

Why ?

A high shutter speed will always ensure you capture a crisp image, this is a wedding technique but plays perfectly into the narrative of 'run and gun' photography , something may catch your eye and you may react quickly to capture this event happening , there is nothing worse then being manual and on 1/50th or lower and the image comes out blurred.

Manual ?

Oh yes !! Talk amongst the group to see if anyone is shooting in manual if you are not , don't be afraid , manual is the best way to get the most out of your photographic journey so take this opportunity to practice and learn how.

I only have a mobile phone though

Also great , mobile photography is growing rapidly , if you have a camera on that phone you are a photographer so don't be ashamed if others have fancy digital cameras and interchangeable lenses , you may want to go down that route one day , but for now you are learning what makes a good photo and the camera on your mobile will do its best to help you with your vision.
