Monumental Monuments : North Star Study Group Walk & Talk
Event Information
Description
There are a lot of Monumental monuments in Plymouth - Francis Drake’s statue, The Mayflower Steps, Sir John Hawkins Square. North Star Study Group invite you on a walk to discover the alternate stories behind these, and other Plymouth monuments.
Meet outside THINQTANQ (near Kitty O'Hanlons pub / Plymouth Magistrates' Court) and join members of North Star Study Group to explore and think more deeply about Plymouth's own relationship to colonialism & colonial activity on this 2 hour exploration of some of the city's existing (and missing) monuments.
Wear sensible footwear & dress for the weather - we'll be outside and on our moving around throughout. The route takes us across cobbles, up and down steps & up one steep slope.

- meeting up to learn together & discuss things – setting up new events to bring curious people together to share, question and talk about the things they are learning
- gathering, producing and sharing learning resources – finding & signposting stuff that is available for free online (like videos, webpages, podcasts, e-books, articles)
- supporting learners through bursaries, special challenges and learning groups – finding creative ways to help encourage curious people learn more about the North Star Study Group’s topics
The Monumental Monuments Walk & Talk is supported in part by the POP+ Street-to-Scale fund and developed by members of North Star Study Group, as part of Plymouth Art Weekender.
