About this event

Moor Trees is organising an event to bring together individuals interested in supporting the restoration of native woodland on Dartmoor. This annual event, which also includes the charity's AGM, will shine a light on the work of the charity, as well as guest speakers who will talk about inspiring and important work taking place on Dartmoor. The event will be hosted in the Green Room at Boringdon Park Golf Club in Plympton.

The day will start with the AGM where you will hear from our Chair of the Board of Trustees Jenny Isaac, and our Chief Executive Helen Aldis, about our achievements over the past 12–18 months. To include reflections on our programme of engaging events that have been taking place throughout 2025, to mark our 25th anniversary year.

Confirmation of our guest speakers will be announced shortly.

The event will conclude with an afternoon of Seed Gathering at Plymbridge Woods as part of the charity's annual programme of woodland visits sponsored by the Woodland Trust.

The event is open to anyone involved with or interested in the work of Moor Trees. Please note that only members of Moor Trees will be able to vote in the AGM, but all are welcome to attend this part of the programme.

We respectfully suggest a £10 donation for the attendance of this event, to support the charity's ongoing work towards our goal of restoring Dartmoor’s lost native woodlands and temperate rainforests. Please visit our website: DONATE - Moor Trees - How You Can Raise Money for Moor Trees

Come and join Moor Trees! We need your help, whether for a day, or as a regular volunteer. You could be collecting local seeds, caring for thousands of seedlings in our nurseries or to planting and maintaining conservation woodland.

We have two large nurseries at Broadley Farm, Diptford, near South Brent and Hunter’s Moon in Dartington. Woodland sites are scattered around Dartmoor and in the South Hams. Tree planting takes place between November and April while nursery work – potting, planting and weeding seedlings happens throughout the year. In summer we visit newly planted sites and in the autumn we collect seeds, nuts and acorns and learn various treatment methods to encourage germination.

Volunteers of all ages, abilities and cultures are welcome. We are a friendly group and volunteering with us is a wonderful opportunity to work with other enthusiastic people in beautiful settings, to get healthy exercise outdoors and to make new friends. No previous experience is needed: we explain all the tasks and teach you how to do them.

We ask you to bring a packed lunch, sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing with waterproofs if necessary. Tea, biscuits, hot drinks and tools are provided free by us.
