Join RHB Adventures for a full-day, hands-on field workshop designed to introduce you to the fascinating world of UK invertebrates in a mountain environment. The focus will be on the unique species found in upland streams, moorland, and mountain woodland.


What You Will Learn:


Practical Field Techniques: Gain experience in upland sampling methods, including responsible kick-sampling in clear mountain streams to survey aquatic invertebrates, as well as sweep netting and other techniques in adjacent habitats.


Invertebrate Identification: Focus on the basics, with a special emphasis on aquatic bioindicators which reveal the health of the mountain water environment.


Citizen Science: Master the skill of creating an accurate field notebook and confidently submit your valuable findings to national databases using tools like iRecord.


About Your Expert Tutor: Rachel Davies


The course will be expertly run by Rachel Davies, who has worked in conservation for over a decade. Rachel holds a Masters degree in wildlife conservation, has co-authored field guides, and co-runs the Leech Recording Scheme for Britain, bringing a wealth of specialist knowledge.
