MOO's #TechTuesday - Microservices
Tue 2 May 2017, 18:30 – 21:30 BST
MOO's #TechTuesday - Microservices
MOO's #TechTuesday is back, and we're excited to be hosting a duo of experts on a very popular topic right now; Microservices.
Microservices - also known as microservice architecture - is an architectural style that structures an application as a collection of loosely coupled services, which implement business capabilities. Microservices enables the continuous delivery/deployment of large, complex applications. It also enables an organization to evolve its technology stack.*
We're also pleased to say we'll be raising money for #techmums by donating all money raised through ticket sales to them (minus the fee as this is paid to Eventbrite). You can read up on the great work #techmums do here - http://techmums.co/
"Empowering mums, their families and communities through technology"
On the night MOO will be hosting the event and covering expenses for all drinks and nibbles.
Doors officially open for the event at 6:30pm - with guests arriving to drinks and nibbles - and the talks starting at 7:15pm with an opportunity to network (and nibble) through to 9:30pm after.
Our fantastic speakers for the night will be...
Sarah Wells - Principal Engineer at the Financial Times
Sarah regularly talks at conferences in the UK and abroad about the challenges of microservices and devops. She has 15 years experience as a developer and most recently has been leading a team at the FT that are building a microservices-based system from scratch. On the night she'll be giving a talk on how microservices at scale can be a huge challenge, and you can follow Sarah on Twitter via @sarahjwells
Praveena Fernandes - Software Engineer at Neo4j
Praveena Fernandes is a Software Engineer at Neo4j. She is a passionate developer, and is interested in all things related to programming. She has years of experience working as a Lead Consultant at ThoughtWorks in software delivery and organisation transformation across different business domains. You can follow her on Twitter via @praveenasekhar
Is there a refund policy for the event?
As we're raising money for a non-profit organisation we'll be operating a no-refund policy. Please ensure you (and all guests) can make the event prior to purchasing.
Are recruiters (internal or external) allowed to attend?
Afraid not - this night is all about Tech!
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
MOO is right next to Farringdon underground/overground station, so this is likely the best connection. There is no parking especially close to the building.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
If you're unsure of what you can/can't bring please check with firstname.lastname@example.org. As the building is a shared space we cannot allow dogs (or any other animals for that matter).
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Get in touch with email@example.com for any other questions.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No - we will have a register on the day so will just need your name. Please ensure you buy enough tickets for yourself and guests.
Is there a first / last entry?
Yes - guests will be let in from 6:15pm to 7:15pm. As the talks begin at 7:15pm, we hope you can join us before then.
Please note we photograph and film the majority of our events, so if you'd rather not be included in pictures/footage please let a member of the MOO team know on the night.
