About this event

Charity & Causes • Environment

The Moray Climate Action Network is hosting its second climate conference on 3 October, during Scotland's Climate Week.

This year, we'll be expanding our knowledge, networking to build meaningful collaboration for local climate initiatives, and exploring innovation in climate action and sustainability.

We're delighted to welcome Professor Peter Stott MBE, Met Office scientist and author of Hot Air: The Inside Story of the Battle Against Climate Change Denial. Peter will share why data – not debate – must guide our response, and why local solutions are essential to tackling the climate crisis.

We’re also pleased to confirm Will Burnish, Senior Engineer at Moray Council, who will speak about their work on coastal erosion...a growing challenge for Moray’s extensive coastline. Will brings over 20 years of experience in water and flood management and will highlight the importance of long-term, local strategies to protect our communities.

Researcher Kerry McInnes from Moray University of Highlands and Islands and David Blair from the Moray Trade Union Council will be discussing in more detail the skills needed locally for Moray to transition from the oil and gas industry to renewables.

We'll also be hearing about new research into Moray's food growing potential.

We are also very pleased to be able to welcome a panel of youth representatives from Moray to ask their questions and lead discussions.
