Welcome to the (more) Tales from a Hard City - The Exhibition at Post Hall Gallery.
Join us for the (more) Tales from a Hard City Exhibition, collaborating with No Bounds festival.
This is an exhibition celebrating 30 years since the release of Kim Flitcroft & Alex Usborne’s extraordinary documentary feature film shot in Sheffield in 1993.
The film tells the story of four chancers and dreamers re-inventing themselves in a steel city facing the end of industry.
The film was described as ‘ the greatest comedy Mike Leigh never made ‘ by The Independent and as ‘ gut wrenchingly hilarious ‘by the NME and has a bevy of fanatic pop fans including Badly Drawn Boy, Jarvis Cocker and Mogwai.
Using photography and archive and with screenings of Tales from a Hard City and earlier boxing film Johnny Fantastic the exhibition explores why this film has had such a long and successful life and why it has attracted so many obsessive fans.
This exhibition is free entry and does not require a ticket to enter.
It is running from 10am - 4pm everyday* from Friday 10th October til Saturday 25th October.
*the Post Hall Gallery is closed on Sunday 19th October.
