More than an introduction to calligraphy
Overview
This one-day calligraphy workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of the art. You will learn how to build your own recycled calligraphy tool — the Cola Pen — and use it to practice strokes and techniques. Vincent will give a short presentation of calligraphy artwork to inspire your own design. The workshop concludes with the creation of a unique calligraphy artwork on high-quality A3 paper, finished and ready to take home.
Paper, ink, pencil, tape as well as other materials will be made available to participants to provide them with a wide range of possibilities for their creations.
The workshop is suitable for all levels of experience.
Vincent Box is a Calligraffiti artist based in Glasgow, originally from Réunion Island. Drawing on his Indian, Madagascan and European roots, he creates vibrant compositions blending calligraphy, textures, symbols and portraits. Trained in Applied Arts and Graphic Design, he turned from digital work to calligraphy under Master Marco Chioini in Montreal, co-founding Garbage Beauty—a street art collective known for poetic messages on discarded objects, showcased at events like MURAL Festival and Wynwood Mana Village. After returning to Réunion, he embraced brighter colours and figurative elements, exhibiting at Palette and festivals such as Réunion Graffiti. Now in Glasgow, he continues to expand his practice across Europe and Africa. Follow Vincent on Instagram to see more of his work www.instagram.com/boxvincent
