Event description
SYLA are excited to bring our first “More than Just a Lawyer” event of the year, with our First Time Buyers Event.

About this Event

More than Just a Lawyer … First Time Buyer Event

Getting on the property ladder nowadays can be a difficult and challenging task. However, our speakers are here to share their experience and tips for buying your first home to make the process not seem so daunting.

We are thankful to the Law Society of Scotland for hosting. Registration for the event will start at 6pm for a 6:30pm start, followed by a question and answer session.

The speakers for the event:

Gregor McMeehan, Malleny Mortgage Solutions

Gregor McMeehan, Malleny Mortgage Solutions, will be on hand to provide an overview of the mortgage application process, the benefits of using a broker, how to prepare for buying your first house, what “loan to value” means and how to protect your home and yourself after your big purchase. Gregor and members of his team will be on hand to answer any questions.

Malleny Mortgage Solutions are independent advisors and specialising in providing mortgage and insurance advice. Their goal is to make the process of applying for a mortgage a straightforward and stress-free process. All of their consultants are CeMAP qualified, independent and have access to over 100 different lenders. Hannah Fraser, Thorntons Law

Hannah Fraser, Associate, Thorntons Law, will then cover the role of a solicitor in purchasing your first house. She will be on hand to answer the most popular question of “I have seen a house I like, what do I need to do now?”. She will also provide a narrative on the fees involved in buying your first house, including tax and relief available.

Hannah qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and was a solicitor with Pagan Osborne as a Residential Conveyancing solicitor in 2016 before they were acquired by Thorntons in 2017. She specialises in the sale and purchase of residential properties, transfers of title, re-mortgages and equity release.

She also has knowledge of the Help to Buy scheme and purchasing new build properties meaning she is able to provide valuable advice to first time buyers.

Thorntons Residential Conveyancing team can be contacted using the enquiry form here: https://www.thorntons-law.co.uk/make-an-enquiry

We look forward to seeing everyone there.
